STRUGGLES OF A PEER TEACHER PART TWO

It has been long since I last wrote anything maybe it was due to the unending election period. I was waiting to write after elections. Elections are now over ,hopefully , we are now boycotting .Some of my readers have been asking me to send the 300/= KES that I was asked by my high school darling from my first article(they say that maybe that's all it needed to open the servers๐Ÿ˜), others came asking me to tell them more about the struggles of a peer teacher. I therefore decided to come up with the part two of the article, telling more of the struggles๐Ÿ˜œ.

Well, remember I was a teacher of English and to make everyone see how serious I were, I made it mandatory that I had to receive composition from each an every student each week. My first batch of composition was hectic to go through, the hand-writings were unreadable, some essays made no sense, as a result, as a language teacher I had to start by teaching handwriting. To the students whose hand-writings were wanting, I made sure they had noted the shapes of each of the 26 alphabets behind their books.

That’s not the point of highlighting this composition thing,๐Ÿ‘‰ this is, there was a composition that was tempting here- remember I was a hot cake. The female student (not my high school darling) had written about her wedding. She however refused to get married to her husband-to-be because she was in love with another man. I was the other man , I had to call her to ask her what’s up. She was however not bold enough to admit why she wrote that composition. We however became good friends.

This is the composition. You are however advised not to notice any grammatical mistakes๐Ÿ˜†

I recall that my first weekend as a teacher  we had games in a “nearby school” We had to walk over 10 kilometres to get there, damn it! I was given the opportunity to oversee my girls playing volleyball with another school. (We assume there were no weird scenes as they were playing๐Ÿ™ˆ)I know nothing about volleyball but because we were only three teachers I had no choice, luckily some female students(from another school) were helping me note some mistakes. After the match ,it was time to interact with the students, I hadn’t known them well yet. There was this other female student, the number has now risen to three, she wore my precious but cheap hoodie maybe it was cold or she wanted it for show off, it is embarrassing saying I wore hers’ as well (Rumor has it that after that incident she was called by another male teacher who was jealous, she was warned. It was rumored that this teacher wanted the girl), another one had given me a leso (for lack of an English Word)By the end of that Saturday I was a celeb  in almost all schools around - maybe they referred me as the skinny teacher- who cares anyway? What a screwed up teacher?

Back to the village where the school was located, parents had already heard of the young teacher who posed a threat to the female students, little did they know that it was vice versa ,their girls posed a threat to me as a teacher. During games time the parents would watch our interactions with students from the fence. Within no time I was the talk of the village. The thing that encouraged me was the fact that these students always liked me and would always support me. My biggest aim was to know the village newspaper who was tarnishing my name. After my research I came to learn about internal differences among us as teachers had grown to an extent of rumor mongering crap. And the target here was on the only two young teachers in the school. The little that had happened was now built up to become a mountain and I was ready to resign, there was less to lose based on the fact that I was earning peanuts.

I remember at an instance on an Annual General Meeting a parent was somehow quoting about how young the teachers were, maybe it was positive criticism.

There was this class I would go to and find my name written on the blackboard and that was something I took as normal. I was assigned as a life skills teacher in form two since their former English teacher was the holder of the position. The lesson was once a week and after a few classes we opted due to their shyness they would write their questions on pieces of paper and I would answer them. That idea was screwed up in a way. I did not know what to expect. High schoolers can insult you anytime they get the chance, I started receiving crap questions which I cannot post here, and within no time my “career” as getting out of hands. I would even receive some mature complements on the pieces of paper๐Ÿ˜ค.

The next thing I had was the form one life skills teacher coming to me and telling me he was receiving some funny questions which he wanted to share with me. He told me that his students were asking if it was in order to fall in ๐Ÿ’—love๐Ÿ’— with a teacher. He jokingly asked me who the teacher would be, we both laughed at that, the answer was automatic.

Towards the end of the second term, my job was becoming hot to hold on.I however decide not to disclose some of the reasons. I had an enemy among the teachers but I wasn’t her first – she was not talking to another young teacher. Two young teachers, one enemy- best thing ever.

To conclude my struggles as a peer teacher, it was among my best experiences, I learnt a lot.  I however don’t look forward to becoming a teacher anytime in my life. Anyone who spots my high school darling should say hi.

If I were to write all about my career as a teacher, it would take forever.

I did not resign.

I however didn’t receive my August pay. Mr. Principal, am seeing you๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ง๐Ÿ˜ง I worked for three months got paid for two months- struggles of a peer teacher.๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿ˜ค

Thanks to my teaching career it made me visit Nanyuki for the first time๐Ÿ˜‰

I had the best students anyway, they still inbox me on Facebook๐Ÿ˜˜

Cheers
